Logo design for the Fakini company: The idea

The process of creating a logo for the Fakini company began with the idea to play with the company’s name, the meaning of which is mischievous and playful. So, we decided that it would be the theme that will accompany the logo design. To achieve this, we turned the initial letter F to break the seriousness and in that way convey the name and personality of the company itself.

However, since the company deals in construction, it was important that this activity was also reflected in the look of the logo. So we created an icon that shows construction in progress, using the letter F as a base. With this, we managed to create a logo that is a good combination of elegant and serious, with a little bit of mischievousness, just like the name of the company.

As we played with the letter F in the name, we did the same in the logo icon itself. We wanted the icon to represent the company’s activity, construction, so we almost built a building with the help of letters, as you can see in the illustrations below. The logo design process served a threefold purpose: the company’s activity (construction), the company’s name (the letter F) and the company’s personality (playfulness amid seriousness) were shown.

This logo is a good combination of elegant and serious with a little bit of mischievousness. Just like real fakin (Fakin is a term in croatian language that describes a mischievous person). 🙂

Why is logo design important?

Creating a logo is one of the most important aspects of branding. A logo is often the first impression people have of a company, so it’s important that it conveys the right message. Here are a few things to keep in mind when creating a logo:

1. Simplicity

Simplicity is key to a successful logo. The logo should be easy to understand and recognizable, which can be achieved by avoiding complex designs and distracting patterns. Although it is often tempting to use a bright color and we are tempted to cram the design with colors, patterns and other design elements, you should be careful with this. A logo that is too striking can have the exact opposite effect. It can be distracting, while a quality and simple logo will attract attention.

Therefore, it is important to balance between clarity and attractiveness in logo design. While we want the logo to attract attention, we should avoid large design elements that could distract attention from the company or product itself. Not all attention is good attention. Sometimes even though a logo attracts attention, it is not for a good reason and can cause the opposite effect. Instead, the focus should be on creating a simple yet striking logo that will be easily recognizable and understandable to the audience.

2. The message is important

The message is one of the most important things to keep in mind when creating a logo. The logo should represent the values of the company and the industry in which the company operates, and it is important that this is reflected in the design.

For example, if it is an environmental company, the logo could be designed in earth tones to reflect the company’s stance on environmental issues.

Also, the logo should be designed so that it is easily associated with the company’s activities. For example, in Fakini logo, although the company’s personality is more playful, the construction industry itself is more serious, so we presented the industry with the logo icon (an illustration of a building using the letter F), and with the inverted letter F in the name and the use of light blue, we gave it a personality.

In short, it is important that the logo contains a message that reflects the company’s values and activities, and that this message is clearly conveyed through the design. This is the only way to create a successful and recognizable logo.

3. Use strong typography

Strong typography is key to a successful logo. The logo should be easy to read regardless of where it is used, be it large or small formats.

We often encounter this problem where some clients want a logo in a certain font that would not look good or be readable in certain sizes. You may want to apply the log to different formats, such as mugs, ballpoint pens, and the like. At such small formats, a particular font may look like a blob. Completely illegible.

Also, maybe the logo will be on large advertisements, like billboards, then also certain fonts will not be clear enough and suitable to be read from long distances and at speed.

Classic fonts are a good choice because they are easy to read and are recognizable. Avoid fonts with a lot of detail or ornamentation as they can become unreadable when scaled down. Instead, stick to clean fonts that will be easy to read regardless of size and application.

Also, it should be kept in mind that the logo can be used in different media, such as websites, printed materials and advertisements. Because of that, it is important that you choose a font that will be suitable for all types of media and sizes.

4. Be careful with trends

Trends come and go, but the logo remains. Although some trends are more permanent and for some companies it makes sense to use a more modern design for creating a logo, you should still be careful with trends. For most companies, it is better for the logo to be classic and with that last longer to ensure brand recognition. Eventually, the logo can be modified a bit to make it look more modern, but still retain its original appearance. If the logo is completely in line with the trends, you just need to continue to follow the trends and redesign it from time to time in line with the changes.

5. Originality

Originality is important for a successful logo because one wants to create a unique and memorable design that will stand out in a sea of other logos. This is especially important in a competitive business environment, where it is important for the company to stand out from the competition and for its logo to be remembered.

We are all surrounded by logos on a daily basis now. We see them in stores, while browsing the Internet, on posters while walking. The logo should be original enough for our already short attention to notice it, but even more importantly to remember it. If the logo looks like all the others, we won’t remember it.

Logo design is a game of creativity. That is why we mentioned the importance of the message in the previous point. If the logo represents your company and your personality, you automatically have something that is original and noteworthy. Like the name Fakini and the playfulness of the logo.

Therefore, it is important to avoid copying ideas and designs from other companies or using AI technology or other ways of creating logos. If you are a beginner and the company has not yet started making money, and you need a logo – such options are necessary and welcome. However, for any high-quality job, especially one that has a lot of competition – being original is essential. You should focus on creating a unique and original logo that will stand out from the rest and attract the attention of the audience.

Designing a logo is an important process, but it doesn’t have to be difficult, let alone serious. 🙂
